On October 5th 1967, Israel launched a pre-emptive assault on the Egyptian defenses in the Sinai Desert. The key to the central Sinai was the crossroads at Abu Agheila. The Egyptians had established a entrenched position on a triple-layered ridge line, with minefields and substantial artillery support. Sharon's Armoured Division was to cut off this position from reinforcement from the north and south and then capture the crossroads itself.

Egyptian forces then setup anywhere on the table , but not within 7" of the north, east, or south table edges. The Egyptian player may entrench any and all elements under his command. Place a square horseshoe-like marker (60mm by 40mm) around the element. An entrenched element receives a +2 bonus when fired upon from the front or flank and a +1 bonus in close combat, as long as it is not contacted through the rear of the entrenchment. Entrenched troops cannot move for the duration of the game, however. If forced to recoil or flee, these elements are destroyed instead.
The Israeli 14th Armour Brigade and the 99th Infantry Brigade, enter on the northern, eastern or southern table edge, or any combination thereof, on turn 1. The Israeli player also secretly marks a point on the western table edge. His helicopter reinforcements will enter within 6" of this point.
The first time the Israeli player rolls a "6" for his command PIPs the Paratroop Brigade riding in transport helicopters enters the table on the western edge, within 6" of the spot indicated by the Israeli player, before the game. This does not cost the Israeli player PIPs. He still has his 6 PIPs to command the Sharon Arm.Brig., for that turn.
Whichever side reaches its break point first loses the battle. If after 18 turns neither side has reached
its break point whoever holds the crossroads at Abu Agheila is the winner.
1. Elements on road may move at triple speed as long as they do not combine this movement with any cross country movement or come within 12" of the enemy.
2. All contour lines block line-of sight for all units, except those actually touching the ridgeline or contour line.
